本周我们来学习与体育赛事相关的词汇。

1. triumph

n. 胜利；巨大成功

e.g. The party was a triumph.

e.g. After months of training, his triumph in the competition was a well-deserved reward for his efforts.

e.g. The team celebrated their triumph in the championship with cheers and high-fives.

补充：championship 锦标赛

搭配：a triumph over adversity 战胜逆境

His rags-to-riches story was a true triumph over adversity.

n. （胜利或成功的）喜悦，狂喜

补充：a sense of triumph

e.g. After months of rigorous training, crossing the finish line instilled in her a deep sense of triumph.

2. morale /mə'rɑːl/

n. 士气;精神面貌

搭配: high/ low / shaky mora士气高/低/ 动摇

e.g. The team’s morale is shaky after their series of losses.

e.g. The team is playing well and their morale is high.

搭配：morale booster 提升士气的事情

e.g. This win has been a great morale booster.

3. spectator /spek'teɪtə/

n. (尤指体育比赛的)观众

e.g. The place is crowded with spectators.

剑桥17-4-3：And don’t forget about the spectators. I was thinking that many of them will be parents, who could help run the event.

4. final /'faɪn(ə)l/

n.决赛阶段比赛;决赛

e.g. The match will decide which team will play in the final.

e.g. If we play well, we hope to make it to the final.

其他补充：

quarter-finals 四分之一决赛

semi-finals 半决赛

e.g. He won in the quarter-finals and semi-finals but was defeated in the finals.
